FAQ
Q: What is Online Audio Converter?
A: Online Audio Converter is an easy to use instant online audio file conversion utility developed by MajorDecibel Inc.
Q: What audio file formats do you support for conversion?
A: Currently we support MP3, WAV, FLAC, and OGG. These are all common audio file formats with different advantages and disadvantages.

MP3 is a popular compressed format you've probably very familiar with, which is supported by many playback devices and online services. These file formats are perfect for sharing and distributing due to their smaller file sizes. We generate MP3 between 64 and 320 kbps.

OGG is another compressed audio format, which is supported by many playback devices and online services. OGG is also perfectly suited for sharing and distributing due to their smaller file sizes. We generate OGG between 64 and 256 kbps.

WAV is a completely uncompressed format. If you want to generate other file formats for distribution, this is the file you want because they contain the raw audio samples without any compression.

FLAC is a lossless compressed format of the highest quality, perfect for audiophiles with high end systems. These are large files, typically only slightly smaller than WAV files, but they are 100% true to the source material in that the original audio samples can be recovered after decoding.

Q: Are my audio files safe?
A: We make every effort to preserve your privacy and the security of your audio files. Audio files are automatically deleted from our server every few hours.
Q: Do I need to install anything?
A: All audio file conversions are performed online using your web browser. You do not need to install any software to convert your audio files using our service.
Q: What audio bit rates do you support?
A: Currently we support a number of bit rates between 64 and 320 kbps. These are common settings allowing you to balance the size and quality of your audio files. A higher bit rate will be of higher quality, but results in a larger file size.

A: Yes, we support conversion from stereo to mono and from mono to stereo.
Q: Can I change the sample rate of my audio files?
A: You can convert your audio files to 24, 32, 44.1, 48, and 96 kHz sampling rates.
